How It Works

Homes with Crawlspaces

When an E·Z Breathe® unit is installed and operating in the crawlspace, the moist, cool air is drawn into the bottom of the unit by a quietly powerful fan and then expelled. This creates an area of decreased pressure at the lower level and causes the warmer, drier air from the upper levels to be drawn downstairs. This is ideal for drying out basements and crawlspaces. The direct effect of the air being expelled and the downward flow of air into the basement or crawlspace creates an air exchange in the house that is six to ten times higher than that of the average home.

The old system for controlling air and moisture problems in the crawlspace was to install foundation vents. It never worked. More of the wrong solution (more vents) didn’t work. Allowing hot humid air to blow through a cooler crawlspace creates condensation – sometimes to the level of creating a rain forest beneath your home. Mold and insects thrive – damaging the structure and the health of the occupants.

Total encapsulation is a much better idea. Unfortunately most contractors who do total encapsulation then recommend dehumidifiers. E·Z Breathe is the ultimate dehumidifier at a fraction of the operational cost, and with a 10 year warranty! And the real answer is – condition the space like you do your upstairs.

We’ve installed E·Z Breathe in thousands of crawlspaces, many of these had already tried all the other solutions first – more vents, smart vents, no vents, total encapsulation with a dehumidifier. They never got the results until they got the E·Z Breathe!
